MoCA-Americas aligns its mission with the care, management and promotion of The Rodríguez Collection, and has developed several ways of bringing the collection closer to the community.
By developing targeted, enriching programs and events, we create experiences that connect people to art, ideas, and one another. At MoCA-Americas, we believe that access to art and creativity provides the foundation for a well-rounded education, and represents the core of the human experience. MoCA-Americas/The Rodríguez Collection artistic and collaborative programs provide a platform for musicians, students, emerging artists, women in the arts, and performing artists. These programs were designed to inspire, provoke discussion, and to engage and reflect multiple audiences.
Our annual Women in the Arts program is geared toward supporting and encouraging women in the arts, and to pursue artistic careers, promoting the work of many underrepresented artists in American, Cuban, Caribbean and Latin American artistic circles. Art in the Community was designed to encompass multiple mini-programs that involve MoCA-Americas providing a platform for other types of artforms such as, Art & Music which combines the current exhibition of visual art in our galleries with a performance from a local musician. By partnering with local universities, SOFLO New Art allows graduating BFA and MFA students to complete graduation requirements with an exhibition at MoCA-Americas, aligning with our mission of supporting emerging and mid-career artists. Art & Literature was designed to support publishers, authors, and magazine/journal editors that are focused on the arts. In this program, book presentations and lectures are held in one of our gallery spaces surrounded by a curated selection of our permanent collection. And finally, Art & Children supports projects such as presenting children's book sand guided tours for elementary-middle school students.
At MoCA-Americas, community outreach and impact are critical measures of our success going forward, and means improving our city and the economic and educational conditions for all of South Florida through the visual arts. Collaborations with other institutions, curators, artists and museum professionals continues to be one of the main ways in which MoCA-Americas fulfill sits educational and institutional mission of forming and safeguarding fruitful working relationships in the arts.
